Mark Caserta: DOJ to investigate Planned Parenthood

16 Dec

December 15, 2017

The abortion of an innocent, unborn child is a dagger in the heart of God’s gift of life to His children. It’s unfathomable continuation stabs deeply into man’s flesh, leaving behind a wound defiled with the blood of the most unblemished among us.

One hundred years ago, Margaret Sanger, an advocate for women’s reproductive rights and a vocal eugenics enthusiast, opened her first birth-control clinic in the United States and founded an organization known as Planned Parenthood.

Per The Heritage Foundation, today Planned Parenthood offers a “wide range” of women’s health care as justification for taxpayers providing more than 40 percent of their funding. Data show that Planned Parenthood is now the country’s largest abortion provider with affiliates performing more than 300,000 abortions per year and has become an organization deeply embedded in controversy.

Per reports from multiple news organizations, including The New York Times, the Justice Department recently launched a federal investigation into Planned Parenthood’s abortion practices and the sale of fetal tissue derived from abortions – for profit.

In a letter, reportedly first obtained by Fox News last month, Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs Stephen Boyd has formally requested unredacted documents from the committee who led the congressional probe into the women’s health organization following a 2015 undercover operation by activists David Daleiden, and Sandra Merritt, of the pro-life Center for Medical Progress.

During the investigation, both Daleiden and Merritt recorded undercover video while posing as researchers interested in purchasing fetal tissues from Planned Parenthood. The request for the information was made to the same Senate Judiciary Committee, whose chairman, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, referred Planned Parenthood, along with other providers to the FBI for investigation last December, according to The Hill.

Like millions of Americans, I had opportunity to view many of the undercover videos produced during the investigation and found them nothing short of horrifying. I was sickened my tax dollars were helping support this wretched practice which has been essentially ignored over the years by Democrats and Republicans alike.

In a statement to Fox News, Daleiden provided some details on the videos and shared investigative findings.

“After Planned Parenthood’s top doctors were caught on camera casually negotiating the sale of aborted baby hearts, lungs, livers and brains, two congressional investigations confirmed there were ‘systematic’ violations of federal law in Planned Parenthood’s aborted baby parts business,” he said. “The FBI’s investigation of Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer-funded, criminal abortion enterprise is long overdue.”

Planned Parenthood vehemently denies the allegations brought about by the undercover video. And while it’s true Daleiden and Merritt were indicted in 2016 on a felony charge of tampering with a governmental record, it was related to presenting a fake California driver’s license with the intent to defraud, and had nothing to do with the video content, per The New York Times.

Today’s abortion ideology is a result of progressivism working to expand “choice” in every area of our lives. Tragically, the unborn are paying the ultimate price.

May God convict our hearts and give us wisdom as we fight to end this madness.

Mark Caserta: Should pro-choice include selective birth?

“What kind of a society do you want to live in?: Inside the country where Down syndrome is disappearing.”

That was the title of the August “CBSN On Assignment” column by Julian Quinones and Arijeta Lajka of CBS News reporting on the “significantly decreased” number of Down syndrome births in Iceland. With a population of about 330,000, Iceland has reduced the number of children born with Down syndrome to around one or two per year, according to the report.

Interested in how they did it? Simple. They killed the babies before they were born.

Per the column, since prenatal screening tests were introduced in Iceland in the early 2000s, the vast majority of women, close to 100 percent, who received a positive test for Down syndrome terminated their pregnancy.

Using what’s called the Combination Test, screeners determine whether the baby will have chromosome abnormality, which could result in Down syndrome. Reportedly, other countries aren’t far behind using this method of selective birth.

Knowing that many people born with Down syndrome can live healthy, productive lives, how does this make you feel?

Understanding the progressive movement’s pro-choice stance, I submit this is a liberal form of genetic selection based upon predetermined, preferential impact on society – nothing more, nothing less. But despite its despicable and evil nature, I believe most liberals would support the woman’s choice.

No doubt, many progressives would answer the CBS question with something like: “While we may not subscribe to the morality of the mother’s choice, it’s still her choice, and we support it.”

But, historically, where does this mindset originate?

In 2009, I wrote a column titled “Planned Parenthood fulfilling founder’s vision.” In the column, I discussed how Margaret Sanger, a controversial eugenicist, founded Planned Parenthood in 1916, envisioning a society not unlike that sought by Adolf Hitler.

In her 1922 book “The Pivot of Civilization,” Sanger refers to blacks, immigrants and indigents as “human weeds, reckless breeders, and ‘spawning … human beings who never should have been born.'”

Sanger believed “The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.” Since its founding, Planned Parenthood, an organization which has the support of most liberals, has become the largest abortion provider in the U.S.

Sanger, officially endorsed by the American Eugenic Society in 1932, was also recognized by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at a 2009 Planned Parenthood function.

“The 20th-century reproductive rights movement, really embodied in the life and leadership of Margaret Sanger, was one of the most transformational in the entire history of the human race,” Clinton stated upon receiving an award from the organization Sanger founded.

Clinton extraordinarily acknowledged she was in “awe” of Sanger.

Others stand in “awe” of creation.

Do we really want life to be so arbitrary? How many champions have been destroyed before given the opportunity of life? Where will selective birth end?

God, in His infinite wisdom (and sometimes to our detriment) has given us the ability to choose.

I propose we give life a chance.

Mark Caserta: Abortion atrocities must be stopped

In light of the recent exposure of even more horrific business practices committed by our nation’s largest abortion provider, I would be hard pressed to name an organization any more insidious than Planned Parenthood.

Following a Los Angeles judge dissolving a temporary restraining order on the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), the group recently released its eighth investigative video exposing the reprehensible tactics employed by Planned Parenthood to “profit” from its abortion services.

In the video, StemExpress CEO Cate Dyer admitted that her company received “intact” aborted baby bodies from the abortion clinics with whom they work. In the dialogue with CMP investigative reporters, Dyer coldly shares the fiscal “advantages” and watch-outs of shipping intact baby parts.

“Oh, yeah, I mean if you have intact cases – which we’ve done a lot – so we sometimes ship those back to our lab in its entirety,” Dyer said while dining and sipping wine. “Tell the lab it’s coming,” she giggled about shipping the baby’s heads. “They don’t want to open the box, go, ‘Oh God!'”

Until earlier this month, StemExpress, a biotech company in northern California, partnered with Planned Parenthood to obtain aborted baby parts for medical research. In the secretly recorded video, Dyer’s callous disregard for the murdered children was ghastly. Such heartless demeanor makes one wonder just how far Planned Parenthood has gone during an abortion procedure to preserve the baby’s parts for profit.

In a press release accompanying the video, CMP suggests the practice might include the ruthless, illegal procedure known as “live birth abortion.” The release read: “Feticidal chemicals like digoxin cannot be used to kill the fetus in a tissue procurement case, so a fetus delivered intact for organ harvesting is likely to be a born-alive infant.”

The video also shows Dyer acknowledging that not only do abortion clinics prove fatal for babies, but they also may endanger women. Dyer admitted “rampant, rampant problems with bacteria” in certain clinics where Planned Parenthood is involved.

Planned Parenthood received more than $528 million in taxpayer funding during fiscal year 2013-2014, according to it and news media sources. This amounted to more than $1.4 million per day, in government grants, contracts and Medicaid reimbursements. And while liberals boast that only a small portion of these funds are used for abortions, understand that when a business receives money, regardless of the department, it relieves financial pressure on the entire organization. So in fact, this federal funding is integral to Planned Parenthood’s infanticide.

What sort of society would continue to condone such abhorrent behavior? Have we become so desensitized to death that destroying the lives of the unborn and shipping boxes of baby’s heads for sale doesn’t shock us anymore? Have we become so complacent with our liberal, dysfunctional society that we’ll commute such wretched behaviors in the name of “progressivism”?

A society which tolerates these atrocities is doomed for ensuing wickedness far beyond imagination – wickedness which our children will face because of our apathy.

It’s expedient that Americans willing to stand up against this abominable behavior, propagated by progressives, rise to be heard.
